At Absolutely Roasted we believe coffee is more than just a “pick me up” in the morning. We take quality beans that are ethically sourced and absolutely reveal the best flavors and aromas the coffee has to offer. We are a father and son run company and look forward to serving you all some delicious brews!
Utmost care is taken in the entire process from selecting the beans to shipping fresh roasted beans for other to enjoy. Only the best beans sourced from ethical importers who comply with the Fair Trade Organization are used.
Meet The Owners
Steven Schmitz
Steven started his career at Starbucks where he fell in love with the cafe experience where people can escape for a few minutes and enjoy their coffee. After a couple of years he moved to the city of Chicago and continued following his passion to learn more about the science of coffee where he accepted a job at a cafe called Mojo. Here is where he learned a lot about the different origins and brew methods. His search for knowledge did not end there; he wanted to learn how to roast. He found another local specialty shop called Groundswell Coffee Roasters where he was mentored by the owner and eventually started roasting all the espresso and drip for the two cafes.
Now, Steven wants to take all that he has learned and spread the knowledge and share his own roasts and blends to others.
In his free time, he is either playing with his pet rabbit, Tater, enjoying live music, or playing piano.
Dan Schmitz (and wife Kim)
Maybe Steven’s passion for coffee is contagious as Dan has transitioned from, “Don’t talk to me until I had my first cup” to enjoying and appreciating the intricate process of roasting and brewing premium coffee. (Yes, it’s still better to approach him after his first cup in the morning). He provides decades-long experience in the business world, specifically in the areas of Learning & Development, Project Management, and Marketing.
In his spare time, he enjoys a wide spectrum of activities ranging from martial arts to gardening and woodworking. You can oftentimes find him on the disc golf course; even in the winter, he will be cross-country skiing across the course.
